Learning outcome/s being assessed:
Use theory and research findings to discuss how aspects of adolescent development can be explained.
Demonstrate an appreciation of the interrelatedness of bio-psychosocial and contextual influences on development.
Instructions:
Your paper will require you to integrate the theories and information you have learned about adolescent development. You will also be required to research local resources that promote adolescent development in your community. In this essay, you will explore resources available within New Zealand that promote adolescence development. To complete the assignment, you must find at least one resource for each domain of development: physical, cognitive, and psychosocial. One resource must utilize indigenous philosophies.
Begin by introducing the concept of adolescent development, and explain the importance of community resources in facilitating positive development. You must include a theoretical basis for your explanation.
Next, introduce each domain of development. You must include a theoretical basis for your exploration of each domain. After you introduce the section of adolescent development and the domain, provide an example of a resource within your community, or larger New Zealand, that supports this kind of development during this time of the lifespan. Include what the resource is, what it does, and where it is located. One resource must utilize indigenous philosophies.
For example, if you lived in Palmerston North, you could use Freyburg High as your resource for cognitive development. You could discuss that it facilitates cognitive development by providing opportunities for the facilitation of formal operational thought, as characterised by Piaget, through the following ways (give examples). Do not use this example in your paper.
To conclude, reflect on whether there seem to be appropriate resources in your community that promote adolescent development.
